It's funny how the mind of a child works. Things you don't think twice about they ponder for days. We had watched a movie a couple of weeks ago - a comedy- that had dinosaurs in it. The other day as I was driving Jake to school out of no where he asks "Mom if a dinosaur eats you and poops you out will you be best friends?" I have never thought about that.

Life
My mother in law had a "man friend" named Marvin that she had met at the auction. He was the only grandpa figure that the kids knew. He passed away about six months ago. We were down at my mom's for the weekend visiting Heather and Dan. Saturday evening Dan spent the evening playing cards with Rachael and Jake. They really enjoyed it. When we got in bed that night Jake looked up at me with the most gut wrenching sad look on his face. He asked me when Marvin was going to wake up. Then he said that Marvin was his best buddy ever. I guess he was thinking that he was replacing Marvin with Dan as his best buddy and he felt bad.
After Marvin passed away Anita began seeing another man friend, "Howard". He has known the family for many years. The kids really enjoyed him. He passed away Monday. We went to the visitation last night to be there for Anita. We were sitting with the family gathered around and Anita hugged Rachael and said "Well Rachael, Howard is gone. What are we goin to do now?" Without a beat Rachael said "You'll just have to go to the auction and find another one." We all starting laughing and felt bad for laughing at the funeral home but it couldn't be helped.

Another One From Jake

What They Hear isn't Always What you Say
Kenny was sitting on the couch with his arm propped on the arm of the couch and Jake was sitting next to me in my chair looking at Facebook. Kenny's arm started twitching and he said "look at my arm, it's having a hissy fit." Jake leaned over and asked me "Mom what's a hissy tit?"

Driving lessons
On our way home from town this morning Rachael was dreaming about turning 16 and learning how to drive. She said that we would have to move the seat back a little so she could fit on my lap. I told her that I would notbe sitting in that seat when she learned how to drive. She asked where I would be sitting and I told her I would probably be hiding in the house and her dad would be teaching her how to drive. She said that would probably be better since daddy's legs were skinnier she could sit on his lap easier.

Where do they come up with their stuff.
The kids never fail to amaze me with the things they say. Today I took the kids running around with me because they had no school.
We went to see their Aunt Kim at her consignment shop to drop a few things and look around. The kids were in rare form, running around playing hide n seek and chasing each other.
Kim has a small box on her counter wrapped in wrapping paper and a bow with a hole cut in the top for drawings and such.
Jake found the box and found a small picture frame that would fit in the hole, so he gave it to Aunt Kim for a "present". We thought that was sweet of him to do so Kim gave him a big, long, sloppy kiss on his cheek. He had an embarrased grin on his face when he walked off. We heard him mumble as he walked away. "Well that was awkward."

Heart of gold
I took the kids with me to a Policy Council meeting the other evening because Kenny had a game to referee. They usually have someone there to watch all the children during the meeting but mine never go because they are afraid to miss something. This evening was no exception except there was another child there that would not leave. That made me feel a little better. We were sitting in the cafeteria waiting for everyone to get there and the kids were warming up enough to venture a few feet from my side. They made it to the end of the bench to see what the other kid was up to and I noticed Jake kept looking back at me. Every one in a while he would smile and I would smile back at him and pretend not to make a big deal out of them actually playing with someone else. Jake walks over and give me a hug and asked me if I was ok. When I asked him why he said because I looked so lonely sitting there by myself and wanted to know if I wanted him to come back and sit with me. I assured him I was absolutely fine and very happy that he had found someone to play with. He gave me a sweet little smile, hugged my neck and said "I love you mommy" and went off to play with his new friend.
