Let the beatings begin!

I don't know how many believe in spanking children.  I used to.  I always liked the Bill Cosby skit where he says "Let the beatings begin".  After I had Rachael and Jake I found it hard to spank them.  They were just so cute and usually the things they did were too funny to spank them for it.  Kenny keeps warning me that its cute when they are young but when they get older I'll be sorry.  As usual he is right.

Let me just say that I am one of those people who when I hear children screaming in the store I want to walk over and beat them myself.  I never could understand why they could act so bad and the parents not do anything about it.

Tuesday after I picked the kids up from school we had a couple of hours to kill before I had to be at a policy council meeting.  So I decided to go the Goodwill and let them pick out a toy or shirt.  Rachael did not want to go to Goodwill she wanted to go to another store and buy a video game.  When I pulled into Goodwill and she realized she wasn't getting her way she started throwing a fit.  She wouldn't get out of the car so Jake and I started to walk up to the door to go in the store without her.  She started beating on the window screaming so we went back to get her.  She still didn't want to go in and she actually fell into the parking lot.
We did manage to get inside and then they started fighting over where they were going to sit in the cart.  By this time I was debating on whether to leave or show them they were not going to get their way.  My desire to look for bargains won over and we started down the aisle.  We went past the shelf where all the toys usually are but there was nothing there except a couple of baby toys.  The fit throwing started over full force.  But I was not going to give in!  Halfway around the store and a few times of Jake saying he doesn't love me anymore, everyone was looking at us with the "Please beat your children" look.  Believe me I wanted to, Especially when Jake yelled out "Why don't you take care of your children, you don't take care of your children, you wont let us sleep with you anymore."  But as I walked around to the front of the cart with my hand poised to strike the voice in my head said "NO, you'll be turned in."  So I thought maybe I could just threaten them with their lives, "NO if I say I'm even going to spank them when I get home someone will turn me in."

So I thought You know what, society has helped create the heathens we call children today so they can put up with the screaming and fit throwing same as the parents do.  So I just smiled and went on shopping.  Eventually they settled down and they even had a smile on their faces when we left.
